Responsibilities:

Elwyn seeks a Van Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation of clients to and from various locations to the Drop-In Center Day program. This role will develop planned routes based on client needs in conjunction with their supervisor; ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle and completes necessary documentation; and develop and maintain therapeutically valid relationships with the clients, guardians, group managers, and other stakeholders in the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Integrates the PRISMmodel for the Effective Treatment of Serious and Persistent Mental Illness into everyday practice and clinical interventions with clients, applying best practice approaches to individual and group modalities.
  • Maintains an active driver’s license and a safe driving record during employment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle and notifies the program director of issues needing to be addressed.
  • Assists clients when entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the client, guardians, residential sites, and other relevant parties regarding transportation needs when applicable.
  • Follows all transportation laws and rules of the road to ensure safe transportation of all clients and ensure the safety of passengers at pick up and drop off. Follows the Elwyn Transportation policies as well.
  • Creates and implements efficient route planning to ensure the efficiency of pick up and drop off while maximizing the number of passengers.
  • Driver should maintain a CPR and CPI certification and ensure it is kept current in order to manage medical and psychiatric emergencies. Follows all relevant Elwyn policy regarding medical emergencies.
  • Develop and maintain clinically-informed and therapeutically valid relationships with clients as well as maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries.
  • Fosters positive relationships with primary customers (those who use Elwyn services) and supporting customers, such as members of the community and regulatory agencies.
  • Performs all job-related duties and individual performance goals as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Actively participates in supervision process and in team/organizational performance improvement initiatives.
  • Notifies supervisor of any pertinent information to ensure quality care.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Degree
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record
