Your Solution Partner. Elma Electronic Inc. is seeking a motivated Technical Writer Intern. T he goal for this internship is to assist in developing clear, concise, and accurate documentation that supports our internal and external processes, such as manuals, procedures, and work instructions. While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates who do not necessarily have all the qualifications but demonstrate potential and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and updating technical documentation, including manuals, guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and other departments to gather information.
- Translate complex technical information into easy-to-understand documents for various audiences.
- Ensure documents adhere to established company standards for format, structure, and content clarity.
- Conduct research to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Work with graphics and other visual tools to support the documentation where necessary.
- Review and edit documents for grammar, structure, and flow.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Familiarity with technical writing standards and practices is a plus.
- Experience with content management systems or document control systems is a plus.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals across all organizational levels.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS 9100 standards is beneficial.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing tasks.
- May require occasional lifting of documents or materials up to 20 lbs.
- Verbal communication with co-workers, management, and subject matter experts in person and over the telephone.
Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a university degree program in Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field. Previous experience in a technical writing or documentation role (such as an internship or co-op) is beneficial.
