Job Title: Profee Medical Coder (Contract-to-Hire)

Location (Remote – must reside in one of the following states): NY, CA, NC, SC, OH, TX, GA, or NJ

Industry: Healthcare

Role Overview:

The organization is expanding its Professional Fee (Profee) coding team and is hiring three remote coders on a contract-to-hire basis. The coders will work across a range of chart types—from surgical cases to evaluation and management (E/M) coding—with a strong emphasis on high-volume specialties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign codes for surgical procedures and E/M services based on documentation
  • Review and process hospital and office-based encounters, from preventive care to high-complexity surgeries
  • Meet department productivity standards across various chart types (outlined below)
  • Participate in initial training focused on diagnosis coding before transitioning into specialty work
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members via Microsoft Teams
  • Maintain communication and scheduling transparency, especially if changes occur after the first 90 days

Requirements:

  • Certifications: CPC, RHIT, or CCS-P (through AAPC or AHIMA)
  • Experience: At least 2 years of Profee coding required
  • Proficient in tools such as Medent, EPIC, Codify, and Optum EncoderPro
  • Strong communication skills; experience with Microsoft Excel and Teams
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
  • Must complete a 10-panel drug screen and TB test

Work Details:

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday; 8-hour shifts starting between 7:00–8:00 AM (flexibility after 90 days)
  • Remote Equipment: Provided by agency (pending setup)
  • Interview Process: Virtual interviews with department leads
  • Assessment: Either agency-provided or client-specific coding assessment (TBD)
  • Start Date: ASAP
