Position Title: Police Officer

The Tallmadge Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer, with one position needed immediately and the potential for additional openings. To be considered, candidates must complete the following by 12:00 p.m. on October 9, 2024:

Submit an application to the Civil Service Department (46 North Ave, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278).
Complete the Frontline National Law Enforcement Exam and the Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA).
Salary Information:
Starting: $32.95/hour
After 6 months: $34.19/hour
After 1 year: $36.37/hour
After 2 years: $37.10/hour
After 3 years: $39.94/hour
After 3.5 years: $40.37/hour
These rates are based on the current contract, which will be renegotiated for 2025.

Age: Must be at least 21 years old and less than 35 years old at the time of appointment

Hiring Process:
Background investigations will be conducted on those candidates whose names are forwarded by the Civil Service Department. This includes a series of interviews: integrity interview, polygraph, panel interview, chief's interview, and any necessary follow-up interviews. A physical agility test is required to be considered for employment. Upon selection and conditional offer of employment, candidates must successfully complete post-conditional offer requirements, including a psychological assessment, medical exam, and drug screening.

Candidates who are currently OPOTA certified and either currently serve or have served as a sworn law enforcement officer in Ohio within the last year may apply through the lateral testing requirements.
