Job Description

SME is seeking an entry-level (0-3 years' experience) Scientist, Geologist or Environmental Engineer to join our Grand Rapids, Michigan office to perform project tasks in the office and field. The successful candidate will join an experienced project team in implementing environmental projects and assisting other groups with project implementation, including field sampling and documentation, environmental drilling, and contractor coordination and oversight.

Responsibilities:

• Performing project tasks in the office and field.
• Field implementation of Sampling and Analysis Plans and other scopes of field services.
• Monitoring, interpreting, and communicating test results to contractors, clients, and other internal and external project Team Members.
• Maintaining testing equipment, while in use, in such a state as to prevent failure, degradation or erroneous test results.
• Data Analysis and report composition.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science or better in Environmental and Earth Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field.
• Exceptional ability to synthesize data and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other Team Members and clients.
• Must be able to manage multiple project tasks at once and meet internal and client deadlines.
• Strong problem solving and writing capabilities and the ability to work independently and in teams.
• Team Player.
• Works well as a member of a group.
• Detail Oriented.
• Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well.
