Duties Description The Chief of Staff is the Assembly member's team lead, who ensures that the office'sdaily and long-term operations are effectively working towards the Assembly member's goals to support the constituents. They are the primary liaison between the office and governmental agencies, stakeholders, and community leaders, and implement the office's legislative initiatives while managing the staff. They work in tandem with the District Director and together form the Executive Committee to maintain and improve office systems and procedures while leading constituent services, community affairs, communications, legislative work, and scheduling. They also support and advise the Assembly member, and work with them to develop relationships and achieve strategic goals.
Minimum Qualifications Key abilities and experience:Excellent time management skills with an eye towards efficiency and efficacy;works under tight deadlines and can prioritize multiple projects and tasksEmpathy and respect for constituentsExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsCollaborative and flexible; able to shift directions and/or tactics when needed? Understands the legislative process, as well as the structure and policies of theNew York State legislature, and is effective at coalition building in a legislativecontext
Additional Comments Location: The role is based in Albany, NY. During the legislative session, the Chief ofStaff will be based in the Legislative Office Building. When not in session, the Chief of Staff will be in the District Office
