Job Description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates to join our Chemistry Department as part-time adjunct faculty for the upcoming Spring 2025, Summer 2025, and Fall 2025 semesters. These positions are available for both undergraduate and graduate programs, with courses offered in-person on our West Hartford, CT campus, as well as fully online for graduate students. We are looking for instructors to teach the following courses:

Our department offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, serving a diverse range of students including chemistry and biochemistry majors, pre-health professions majors, and online graduate students.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Teach 2-6 credits of contact time with students
Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, projects, assessments, and assignments aligned with course syllabi
Grade student assignments promptly and provide constructive feedback to support academic success
Hold office hours and offer at least one additional hour per week of student support (in-person or virtually)
Attend departmental meetings as requested
Stay updated with best practices in college-level teaching and apply technology to enhance learning
Follow the academic calendar and meet all scheduled class periods
Submit grades on time and maintain records with the department chair

Requirements:

Master's degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field (required for teaching undergraduate courses) from a regionally accredited institution
Prior teaching experience is preferred
Ability to work with diverse student populations and foster an inclusive learning environment

Additional Information:

Part-time, semester-based teaching assignments
Flexible course formats (in-person, synchronous online, and asynchronous online)
Courses may be scheduled at various times, including day, evening, and weekends
