Department: Data Science Reports To: N/A Supervises: None Work Location: Lake Mary, Florida Position Summary The Junior Data Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. The role involves working with structured and unstructured data, assisting in data integration, and ensuring data quality, security, and availability for analytics and business intelligence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assist in building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes. • Work closely with data analysts and scientists to provide clean, reliable datasets. • Support integration of data from various sources into centralized data warehouses or lakes. • Perform data validation and quality checks. • Collaborate on database design, indexing, and optimization tasks. • Monitor data flows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely delivery of data. • Document technical processes, workflows, and best practices. Supervisory Responsibilities • None. Qualifications Education/Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field. • 0-2 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or similar role. Internship/project experience acceptable. Skills & Abilities • Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.). • Familiarity with data integration tools and ETL frameworks. • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus. • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala). • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Good communication and collaboration skills. Language Ability • Proficient in English. Math Ability • Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistical concepts. Reasoning Ability • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to troubleshoot data-related issues. Computer Skills • SQL proficiency required. • Familiarity with version control systems like Git. • Exposure to data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus. Certificates and Licenses • Not required, but certifications in AWS Data Engineering, Google Data Engineer, or similar are an advantage.
